Summary
| This is a non-tenure track clinical faculty position at either the assistant or associate professor rank responsible for providing instruction, supervision, and mentorship to predoctoral dental students in the D3 and D4 clinics across all areas of general dentistry. The position will start as a 0.6 FTE appointment and, six months after the start date, will be converted to a 1.0 FTE (full-time) appointment. The position plays a central role in preparing students to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered oral healthcare. Responsibilities include direct supervision of student patient care, instruction in diagnosis and treatment planning, development of clinical judgment and procedural skills, and assessment of student performance in the clinical setting. Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Patient-Centered Comprehensive Dental/Oral Care, Evidence-Based Dentistry, Occlusion, Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD), Operative Dentistry, Dental Materials, and Prosthodontics as they relate to comprehensive general dental care. Faculty rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. |
Principal Functional Responsibilities
Service: Actively participate in college and university service through committee assignments and other academic responsibilities. Membership and involvement in state and national professional dental organizations is strongly encouraged.
- DDS or DMD degree, or equivalent.
- Eligibility to obtain an Ohio dental license or an Ohio Limited Dental Teaching License at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education/Training: AEGD or GPR training
- Experience teaching in predoctoral dental education.
- Clinical Practice Experience: Significant clinical practice experience in general dentistry, ideally 7 years or more.
- Teaching Experience and Expertise: Knowledge of and experience with contemporary digital technologies in clinical practice.
- Collaborative: Can work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students at the college and the university.
- Humanistic Environment: Committed to building a humanistic culture/climate within the college and to fostering student success.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, assess and instruct students in a clinical setting across a broad range of general dentistry procedures and patient care experiences.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment, must be able to use dental handpieces and other dental instrumentations/equipment required to provide direct patient comprehensive care.
