Advanced practice clinicians work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to meet the healthcare needs of students, including evaluation and management of acute and chronic conditions, disease prevention and health promotion, and the full spectrum of routine primary care.
What You'll Do
The Senior Advanced Practice Clinician (APC), reporting to the Medical Director of University Health Services, provides primary and episodic care to undergraduate and graduate students as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical team. This role also includes leadership responsibilities, supervising 3–5 clinical staff and supporting per diem clinicians, while contributing to highquality, inclusive, studentcentered healthcare.
Key responsibilities include:
Primary Clinical Care
Provide primary care for adolescent and young adult student populations.
Evaluate and manage acute illness and injuries, including respiratory symptoms (e.g., influenza, COVID19).
Conduct depression screenings and coordinate referrals to mental health services.
Deliver comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care, including STI evaluation/treatment, HIV prevention, and early pregnancy counseling.
Provide genderaffirming healthcare for trans and nonbinary students.
Participate in rotation providing backup coverage for the 24/7 nurse triage service.
Administrative Responsibilities
Document care, scheduling, and secure communication in the electronic medical record per Health Services policy.
Provide aftervisit followup including test result communication, prior authorizations, and responding to student calls and messages.
Communicate and coordinate with campus partners (Student Support, StAAR Center, Athletics/Sports Medicine, Dean of Students), as well as families/guardians and external medical providers when requested by students.
Participate in regular clinical team meetings and allstaff meetings.
Participate in university committees and student health working groups as assigned by the Medical Director.
Assist the Medical Director and Health Services leadership team in quality improvement work and in drafting clinical and administrative policies and procedures.
Supervision & Leadership
Supervise 3–5 staff members, including APCs; support per diem clinicians and a registered dietician.
Participate in hiring, training, performance evaluations, and professional development.
Campus Engagement & Professional Development
Engage with the student community on wellnessrelated topics.
Participate in professional development related to student health and/or healthcare leadership.

Basic Requirements:
- Master’s or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate/Assistant (PA).
- Licensed or licenseeligible to practice in Massachusetts.
- Certified or eligible for certification by the relevant credentialing board.
- 5+ years of clinical experience in an ambulatory primary care setting.
- Experience serving diverse patient populations, including individuals of different ethnicities and immigration histories.
- Demonstrated commitment to addressing the impact of racial trauma and racism in healthcare.
- Experience and training in meeting the healthcare needs of LGBTQ+ populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a university health setting strongly preferred.
- Supervisory experience is strongly preferred (ideally 2+ years).
- Experience supporting traditionally medically underserved communities, including communities of color; persons with diverse gender identities; persons with neurodivergence; international students; and firstgeneration students, is strongly preferred.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:
- Clinicians participate in a rotational schedule providing backup coverage for the 24/7 nurse triage service.
Pay Range
Minimum $116,500.00, Midpoint $145,600.00, Maximum $174,800.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
