Position:
The Associate Vice President, Capital Giving (AVP) is a strategic and entrepreneurial fundraising
leader responsible for advancing Babson College’s most complex and high-impact philanthropic
opportunities. This role integrates transformational gift opportunities with corporate philanthropy,
foundation relations, and planned giving, aligning these efforts to drive investment in the College’s priorities. Leading through a team of experienced directors, the AVP fosters cross-campus collaboration and ensures a disciplined, opportunity-driven approach to securing and stewarding significant philanthropic support.

Reporting to the Vice President, Development, this senior leadership role manages a portfolio of principal gift prospects while providing strategic direction and oversight to the College’s Corporate Philanthropy, Foundation Relations, and Planned Giving functions. The Associate Vice President leads through a team of experienced directors, setting clear priorities, driving performance, and ensuring alignment with institutional goals and campaign strategies.
The AVP is responsible for building and sustaining a high-performing, collaborative team culture
grounded in accountability, transparency, and results. This role ensures that opportunities are
identified, advanced, and executed with discipline and urgency, maintaining momentum across a complex portfolio of institutional and individual funding streams.
The ideal candidate is an energetic, intellectually curious, and strategically minded fundraising leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. They bring a creative, solutions-oriented approach to their work, constantly exploring new ideas, challenging assumptions, and refining strategies to meet evolving opportunities. Select Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Directors of Corporate Philanthropy, Foundation Relations, and Planned Giving, ensuring strong performance across engagement and revenue goals.
- Build and lead a high-performing team culture grounded in accountability, innovation, collaboration, and results.
- Manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, with a focus on securing transformational, blended, and multi-year commitments.
- Champion and drive cross-campus collaboration to identify and advance new ideas and priorities that align with donor interest.
- Serve as a visible and effective ambassador for Babson’s fundraising efforts, both internally and externally, demonstrating passion for the mission and the ability to drive results.
Select Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive fundraising experience, including leadership roles in complex development environments, preferably in higher education.
- Demonstrated success securing principal and transformational gifts, including multiple seven-figure philanthropic commitments.
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing fundraising teams, with the ability to set clear expectations, coach performance, and deliver measurable results.
- Entrepreneurial approach to fundraising, combined with professional integrity and a commitment to the collaborative process.
- Deep understanding of complex donor strategies, blended gifts, and institutional partnerships.
